What is Stand Up?

October 16 + 17, 2007 STAND UP and SPEAK OUT is a worldwide call to take action against poverty and inequality and for the Millennium Development Goals. During the 24 hour period between Oct. 16th at 9pm GMT and Oct. 17th at 9pm GMT, millions will literally STAND UP and SPEAK OUT to show that they refuse to stay silent or seated in the face of poverty. Help us break the world record so we can break the record of broken promises.

Why stand up?

In the year 2000, the Millennium Declaration was agreed and signed by 189 world Leaders aimed at eliminating the root causes of poverty by 2015. However, 50,000 still people die every day as consequence of extreme poverty and the breach among rich and poor continue to increase.
STAND UP AND RAISE YOUR VOICE IS AN INITIATIVE FROM THE UNITED NATIONS MILLENNIUM CAMPAIGN and the Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP)

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE YOU COME FROM,
BUT HOW FAR YOU ARE WILLING TO GO.

DEAR FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES FOR THE PEACE

As you know, our Foundation-FANCV - Fundación Argentina a las Naciones Camino a la Verdad, works in the defense and diffusion of the principles of the Charter of the UN. As members of the MILLENNIUM CAMPAIGN AND THE GLOBAL CALL TO ACTION AGAINT POVERTY (GCAP) on 2006, we were part of the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD (www.standagainstpoverty.org  from Argentina). With this opportunity, we have the honor to invite you to join us to STAND UP, AND SPEAK OUT AGAINST POVERTY. From this moment on we count with you and your people, because we know that your heart is an integral part of this Event. If you would, please stand up on Tuesday, October 16th, from 6:00 pm until 6:00 pm the following day, October 17th Argentine time. Please send us a photo of all your people raising their hands within that hour, with the number of people; the companies, organizations or churches to which you belong, RAISING HANDS AGAINST POVERTY, and we shall send it to the UN as part of the teams that join us, and all of you (with the name of your teams, companies, organization or churches), will also be part of the Guinness World Record, representing through our membership of the Millennium Campaign. Also, please send us an email with your adherence to the Event so that we can add it our website and blog and our link to the UN.

SOME ADHESIONS TO OUR EVENT

I stick fast to the event that realizes your foundation in adhesion to the campaign Get up and Lift the Voice 2007 against the poverty and for the objetives of development of the millenium of the United Nations. And I add attempt that in my Director's(Principal's) quality of the program of infirmary (nursing) of the Institute MedVance, and on 400 members of the institute, which for this way I represent, I understand that it(he,she) is of vital interest for the current youth to know, to deal, to join, and diffusion the intentions of this campaign, since they are the real addressees and beneficiaries of the achievement of the fulfillment of the objectives who encourage her.
